Meet the team!

I am very pleased to introduce you to the wonderful students in Room 10 at Allenvale for 2016. We have seven students, one teacher and two teacher assistants.

Aimee-Lee and her family will be busy this year making plans for her life once she leaves school, with the support of our Transition team. This is Aimee's last year of school, so we'll all be working together to help her to plan for a great future. Aimee loves music, dance and getting out and about. She also loves animals and is a keen horse rider.

Alex is also in his last year of school, and plans are well underway for his life after school. Meanwhile Alex is really keen to learn lots of new things. He is interested in the world around him in general, but has a special interest in vehicles - the bigger the better! Alex takes after his dad, who is a builder. He can swing a hammer like an expert.

Rawiri is going to be taking on increasing responsibilities this year. He is a model for everyone else when using his communication device. Rawiri has lots to say, and loves to share his ideas with everyone. Rawiri loves to use the computer and has a wicked sense of humour!

William is a big music fan. He keeps his I-pod close most of the time, and also likes watching music videos. He loves to get out and about for adventures, and enjoys going for walks with his friends.

Kyle is a huge music fan, and is an ACDC fanatic. He is a great helper, and he will be taking on some new jobs and responsibilities around the school this year. Kyle is a keen gardener, and figures out ways to make the job easier.

Matthew loves animals. He is fascinated by any animals we come across on our outings. He prefers animal books and movies too. Matthew will be working on his cooking skills this year, and we are learning how to adapt recipes to be gluten free so that he can enjoy eating his creations. Matthew can be very funny and makes us all laugh.

Joshua is the newest member of the team. He is also the youngest. Joshua is very musical and we are finding out more about this as we get to know him. Josh is very curious, and likes exploring. He is already part of Jim's rubbish collecting team, and will continue this job each week during 2016.

Teacher Assistants (who would not thank me for putting their photos here!)

Lulu is a passionate supporter of animal welfare causes. She loves her garden and we all think she is a brilliant cook.

Fay loves exploring our beautiful country. She goes on long tramps with her tramping club, and recently purchased a little pop-top caravan so that she can go on more adventures.

Teacher

Fiona (that's me!) - I am usually found either gardening, sewing or hanging out with horses at the weekend. My husband and I don't have any children, but it doesn't matter because we are both teachers, so spend our days with young people. At school I like to learn about new teaching strategies and ideas. I have a special interest in communication.
